Well this weekend definitely had its fare share of "firsts" and I couldn't have enjoyed them more. As I stated in the previous post, I was visiting Colorado to see my best friend Kimmee. This was the first time I have seen her since she had moved and my first time in Boulder, CO...so here is a little recall of my weekend there (which including a lot of firsts!!)
We started off the day visiting her friends at the bank and then going to Estes Park. It wasn't my first time in Estes Park, but I hadn't really explored it. We walked up and down the streets in the cute little shops...and it was the first time I saw a fur vest made from recycled water bottles...apparently that is Colorado for ya. haha. Then we spent the night eating/drinking at a bar across from her apartment and we went to a CU Women's basketball game. This was the first time I went to a college sporting event in a different state...pretty exciting right? I definitely need to come back for their football games haha.
Now on to the more exciting firsts...
So Kimmee lives right next to Chautauqua Park which has a lot of hiking trails...and so of course we thought it would be great to put the hiking sticks her dad bought her to use and go on a hike (please keep in mind the only other people using hiking sticks were at least 60+, but we were not ashamed!) and trust me the hiking sticks saved out lives. I am no professional hiker, so hiking shoes is not something I can say I own in my shoe collection, therefore I endured the hike in some regular ol' beat up tennis shoes. This probably would have been fine except that it does snow in Colorado, and because of the higher elevation on part of the hike and the fact that some areas don't get much sun, the ground was covered in snow. And this was fresh pow pow either...it was slick and icy snow. Which only means one thing, my graceful self was slippin and sliding everywhere. Thankfully I never actually did a complete fall - the hiking stick literally saved my life. Hiking in the snow was definitely a first...and quite and experience at that. Next time I try that I need to make sure to have the proper equipment and to not forget my inhaler so I am not winded every 5 feet. Let me tell you the elevation is a killer!
We then came back and showered and we went to the mall near her house that she used to work at. We saw Silver Linings Playbook for the first time, and it was fabulous!! Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper did an amazing job. Definitely recommend seeing it!
Anyways...then we went out on Pearl street Saturday night. This outing definitely gave me many firsts. We started off at the Boulder Cafe, which was awesome because its happy hour from like 4 till close so all the appetizers and drinks were half off....for appetizers we had fondue. It was the first time I tried it and I am addicted, it was absolutely delicious!! Then from there we moved on to the bars. The bar scene there is cool, much different that Long Beach, very "chill" atmosphere. It was my first time being to a bar that is underground (went to a couple of those)...and it was my first time playing darts/massive jenga/and fuseball in a bar. This might be normal...but none of the bars I have ever been to have this so I was pretty stoked. We moved on from the more relaxed bar to this clubby bar they have...Absinthe House. If the name didn't give it away...the had absinthe, and I tried it. Not a fan...taste terrible, like black liquorice. yuckkk. But they did have a bar on the roof which was pretty awesome. This was also my first experience of having to wear multiple layers when going out...usually I just bear the pain of the slight chill in Southern California while waiting in line, but you can not do that there. You would literally freeze. I had to make sure I had a warm jacket and gloves on when we went out...and how convenient all the places we went had coat hangers (I guess that would make sense in a place that snows haha)
Then Sunday was basically all about food, and exploring Pearl St. We started off the day eating a The Buff...this was my first time eating at a place that has been recognized on TV...apparently man vs food taped an episode there! Pretty awesome...and the food lived up to expectation :) Then we took a gander down Pearl street...definitely and eclectic mix of stores. Found the best vintage store (really wish they had that closer to me!), got a YAY! magnet (famous in Colorado), and explored the most fascinating kitchen, appliance, and toy stores. It was awesome. Not to mention, as we wandered up and down the streets we were entertained by some of Boulder's finest. Apparently it is a thing there to give off the vibe that they are homeless, when in reality they have a decent amount of money. We saw full on bands playing, a woman singing which sounded more like squawking, a girl making bracelets along with many other things. It was quite interesting. We then went to Westminster to eat at Cracker Barrel, first time eating there!! I have heard about this place from numerous people, but I have never been...so you can imagine how stoked I must of been. Can't get better than a massive helping of fried southern food. It was awesome. My dinner consisted of coleslaw, mac and cheese, fried apples, chicken fried chicken, cornbread, and lemonade to drink...so I was IN HEAVEN. Seriously, I have never eaten so fast in my life...it was so good. I look forward to returning to that delicious place.
After we over indulged ourselves in southern goodness we went back out to Pearl so i could experience a few more of the bars before I left. They were very similar to the first bar we went to on Saturday night, and I have to say I really digged them. The best part was, when we were playing darts, I threw my first bulls-eye!! How frickin awesome is that for a first? haha.
Overall it was a great weekend!! I went to visit a new place and tried tons of new things! I was able to see one of my best friends and see her new life and meet her new friends. I am so happy for her, and this definitely was the best weekend of 2013 so far!! I look forward to visiting her again, and experiencing even more firsts there :)
I will posts pics from the weekend tomorrow - too tired for now....still exhausted from the weekend haha.

Go Big or Go Home
Alrighty...so its been about a week in between blog posts, and I am happy to say that I have quite a few firsts to add. I have been meaning to do it for the past few days, but I am just now getting around to it...and I really want to go to bed so I can still get like 7 hours of sleep haha.
Anyways...enough of my ranting here are the firsts from the past week!
- Along with my new job of marketing assistant, I was chosen to be the "HydraFacial host" - this is probably the best part about my job because I get to be on camera, and I love that! haha Our training website went up last week followed by an eblast so all our customers know now...probably the closest thing I will ever feel to stardom! haha. Anyways it is awesome, I have taped two very small segments...and it is my first time "hosting" something and actually been on camera for an audience!!
- I went to my first mini concert last week! I signed up through this company called 1iota, which gives free tickets for fans (if you haven't signed up for this, it is awesome and I suggest you look into it!) Anyway when musical guests are on Jimmy Kimmel you have the opportunity to see the "concert" they perform - so when I saw that Brad Paisley was going to be there I immediately signed up. It was amazing!! Normally they only play two songs...and he played a total of 5 so we got 3 bonuses and he played some of his classics so I was excited! And we were so close - definitely the first time I have ever been so close to someone at a concert! One of my favorite nights of 2013 thus far!!
- I tried dark beer for the first time! (arrogant bastard to be exact) - and let me tell you I am definitely not a fan! My friend, Emilia, and I were working on our passports at Murphy's (we are determined to be done by summer!) and so we know we will have to gulp down the less delicious - well this was the first one we came across. We each had to get our own cup of cheez-its just to get the whole thing down... and to make it even worse it is a huge bottle...probably two of a normal sized beer bottle. Lets just say it was rough, and we do not look forward to the next dark IPA we have to endure!
- This Monday I tried getting eyelash extensions for the first time! I saw them on my friend Ahsley and they looked great...and I thought this would be awesome because its like you have mascara on all the time and I figured this could save me a good 5 minutes when getting ready in the morning! So I got them and I do have to say I am a fan! They were a little bothersome the first two days...but by this evening they have grown out a little so I forget they are even there! The best part is...when I take my makeup off I don't look like a complete alien because I still got the lashes!! hahaha
- OK this one is very stupid...and laugh at me if you will (I laughed at myself for even getting excited about this) but one of my instagram photos broke 100 likes this weekend. It was very exciting because I see some highschoolers insta and they have like 203 likes on the lamest picture of like an apple or something...and I think I have a really cool pic and I am over here with a measly 39 likes. But no matter....I hit 100+ and I felt like a celebrity (or highschooler I guess...but I will go with the first). I know this is very petty...but hey it was a first!
- Lastly...I had a Sprinkles cupcake for the first time! I wasn't even a planned first...but my coworker had to do a photoshoot in Newport today so when he came back, he brought along a cupcake for me and my boss. Such a sweet gesture...and it was delicious! I want to actually go to a Sprinkles though and pick one out for myself :)
Alright that is it for now...I know I should probably be showing more care in my execution when this is only the second post but I wanted to get it out there and it is over an hour past my bedtime! Anyway...on Friday I will be headed to see my best friend Kimmee :) I can't tell you how excited I am...and this will be my first time in Boulder, CO! So I am sure I will be experiencing a lot of firsts...I will make sure to report back :)
Stay Classy, Long Beach.

First of My Firsts
"A Year of Firsts" is what I am planning to do for the year 2013.
One of my firsts is to start a blog - not so I can gain tons of followers or so people can follow me on my day to day life - I am not witty nor a strong writer so I can't promise that this blog with be anything above mediocre. But I did want to try something different and new - mostly just for me not anyone else. One of my resolutions is to keep up with this blog - no real reason...maybe in turn I'll become a better writer or I will just be able to look back on how awesome...or boring 2013 was for me. Either way hopefully I can keep up with this and learn something valuable or share something amazing. Basically what you will find in this blog is a recollection of all my firsts that I do this year to keep my life spicy...and to not get too dull and boring now that I am a college graduate!
If you're reading...bare with me and I hope you enjoy!
Now...8 days are already gone, and surprisingly I have already had quite a few firsts!
- I spent my first New Years in Long Beach. I wish I had some crazy story to tell about it, but I ended up leaving a party early because my ride wanted to leave, so I came back to watch the ball drop on my house with some of my roommates. No complaints though. I was in the comfort of my own home and woke up the next morning with no hangover!
- Started my full time job. Although I have worked for the same company for the past year, I officially signed my paperwork to become a full time employee. Crazy that I was able to start an actually career right after a graduated. Can't wait for adult life...not.
- Got my first credit card!! Wooo scary I know...but I don't intend on spending money I don't have - I just want to build some credit. We will see how this goes. I am excitedddd and nervous. haha
- I went off on someone. I am not exactly proud of this little tid bit but it is so unlike me and really had to be done. I am over people thinking they can walk all over me and be selfish and inconsiderate, so when push came to shove I just had to say something. Maybe this year will bring on a new me...who knows?
- Lastly, of course...I started a blog. Thoughts after first blog - I kinda dig it. Modern technology of a diary...except very public. We will see where this leads.
Well this is it for now. I have a whole lists of what I want to do...so as I do them or think of them, they will be entered into this blog.
Night world - its bedtime for us adults (I also might want to slip in a little bit of Pitch Perfect before bed)
